Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival

September 4, 2016

The big salmon dinner Sunday the 4th ,under the tent at the downtown Fisherman Statue, is the centerpiece of this 29 year tradition.11-3. Local beers and wine will be served. Live music with the dinner 11-4. Craft vendors and a Fiber Arts Show 10-4 feature some of Washington County’s finest artisans. Boat trips to the salmon pens go with the dinner. In the morning there is a kids run and a 5K race/walk.

Moveable Feast

A Moveable Feast on the 6th day of Christmas offers an opportunity to begin your New Year’s Eve weekend with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments at 4 historic homes, dinner and a dessert buffet. The Moveable Feast, a fundraiser for the building fund of the St Joseph Church in Eastport, will be held from 4-8 pm on December 30th, with tickets available at the Quoddy Tides Newspaper, Port O’ Call, or other select locations.

The 8th annual Eastport Homes Christmas Tour offers participants a self-guided tour of beautifully decorated homes and public spaces. A colorful brochure with map provides historical information about each home. The Welcome Center located on the first floor of the Port Authority Building will also host a holiday market from 1-5. Appetizers for tour participants will be available. Santa Claus will make an appearance 3-5. Tickets: $15

A Moveable Feast

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, you are cordially invited to attend our annual Moveable Feast at Eastport on Friday, December 29 from 3:00 until 8:30 p.m. The individual ticket price of $30.00 will include the following: Open House with Appetizers & Merriment
at the Kilby House Inn (1887), Capt. Oliver Shead House (1802), Milliken House B&B (1846), and the Smith House (1840), a Dinner of Lobster-rich Seafood Stew with Salad, Breads, Desserts and a locally-crafted white wine prepared expressly for this occasion, and the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols at St. Joseph’s Church. Tickets for this event may be obtained at the following locations: Quoddy Tides newspaper office, Kilby House Inn, Port O’Call gift shop, and the Church/Parish Office. Tickets are limited to 100 and will be available until sold out. This is a charity event to benefit the Church Building Fund.

New Year’s Eve in Eastport – The Great Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop

Join us for the 14th annual New Year’s Eve Great Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop in Bank Square, downtown Eastport. From the third story of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art, a giant red maple leaf will be lowered to commemorate the Canadian new year at midnight, Atlantic time (11 pm ET), while the New Year’s Eve Brass Band will play a rousing “O Canada,” (singing along is encouraged). At midnight Eastern time, an 8-foot sardine will take the plunge, as the brass band plays “Auld Lang Syne.” The Minor CHaracters will play music at StudioWorks from 9 pm until just before midnight. Don’t forget to kiss the sardine for luck in the year ahead!

Eastport Christmas Home Tour

Seven historic homes and two public spaces will be decorated for the Christmas Holidays. A descriptive brochure and map will help tour goers on the self-guided tour. Refreshments and crafts for sale will be at the Welcome Center at the head of the breakwater. Tickets go on sale Black Friday at the downtown store of Raye's Mustard, Sweeties Downeast, and the Commons.

New this year, work does not need to be created on a single day, or even in Eastport, but we do encourage artists to go out and create en plein air around town on September 4, in the spirit of David Orrell.

The Eastport Pirate Festival is a weekend of fun for the whole family featuring pirates, cannons, treasure, games, costumes, vendors and more! Come and see the largest pirate festival in New England and the Maritimes and pay homage to Passamaquoddy Bay's long-detailed history of smuggling.

It all begins with the invasion of Lubec on September 4. Be on either side of the bay (or take a boat ride across!) to get the full flavor of maritime merriment. The following weekend sees the rest of the events kick off.

Women’s March

Downtown Eastport will be the site of a Women's March on October 2 as groups around the country rally in support of reproductive freedoms and gender equality. The October 2 marches are specifically for the cause of defending abortion access.

Christmas Bird Count in Eastport

Eastport's participation day in the Christmas Bird Count - the longest citizen scientist project in the country, dating back to 1905 - is December 26! On Fridays and Saturdays in Eastport, you'll find interactive art experiences, live music, storytelling, films and more for all ages. New this year in Eastport will be an outdoor contra-dance with live band and caller and a ukulele jam! On Sunday afternoon, there will be music and artisans at Stockford Park in Lubec, presented by LAMPS. Take the Eastport-Lubec ferry to enjoy events on both sides of the bay.

The biggest pirate festival in New England and the Maritimes is held each year in Eastport! This year the festival runs from September 9-11 and includes returning favorites such as the Pirates of the Dark Rose and Ravenbane's Firecrafts, along with new events such as the Pirate Rum Barrell Relay Race.
