The GMWSRS is a small research and public education facility on Grand Manan Island across from the ferry terminal. A registered charity since 1981, the GMWSRS offers a number of programs including the successful Harbour Porpoise Release Program (helping weir operators safely release harbour porpoises and other large marine animals), Adopt a Right Whale Progam (promoting the conservation of NA right whales), Basking Shark photo-identification catalogue, and a tiny natural history museum and gift shop. Our researchers, graduate students and interns conduct scientific research on primarily seabirds, whales and sharks, in the Bay of Fundy. For more updates, please visit our blog.
