Our community museum preserves and highlights our island’s cultural and natural history and has over 20 permanent exhibits. It houses an impressive 300+ birds from the Allan Moses Bird Collection. Other exhibits include the island’s geology and the Walter B. McLaughlin Marine Gallery, with shipbuilding, ferries, fishing, shipwreck and lighthouse-keeping history displays alongside marine artifacts. A recent addition is the impressive Intertidal Marine Mural featuring 129 species. There is also the Willa Cather exhibit, chronicling the Pulitzer-prize winning novelist’s summers on Grand Manan, new outdoor exhibits, seasonal exhibits from the collection, and an annual art exhibit. Please see our website for details on the current season’s schedule.
