Printmaking:
A wonderful opportunity to learn the fascinating world of printmaking. Whether it’s all-new, or you have the experience, we are offering Sunday afternoon open studio time to work on your own projects in the company of experienced and highly acclaimed printmakers. Alanna Baird and/or Ann Manuel will be on hand to advise, encourage and assist. Each month’s block of 4 sessions will be a look at a different technique of printmaking.
These sessions in our beautiful and bright renovated print studio will be relaxed and welcoming. Whether you want to produce your own cards, limited edition artworks, or simply learn new skills and express your creativity, this is the place to be!
Pottery:
This Social Sunday is an open studio where you can mingle, share ideas, and work on your independent projects. An experienced ceramicist, Travis Melanson, is our studio technician. The first week will include a short tutorial to introduce you to the studio and the materials available for you to use. The requirement is that you have basic knowledge of throwing pottery or some experience in working with clay.
You can be a beginner with basic knowledge or an experienced artist. Each Studio Social has appointed an experienced artist as a studio technician to help you with equipment, answer questions about our studios and materials will be available to you.
Join Anne Hopkins and friends in your home kitchen for EAC’s next workshop offering: an afternoon of learning to create the digestive ‘wonder food,’ sauerkraut. The foodcraft class will take place from 1:30-3 pm, Sunday, January 31, via Zoom.
Participants will receive a PDF of Anne’s sauerkraut-making pamphlet when they register for the session, with inspiration, ingredients list and tools to gather. They’ll then spend the session prepping cabbage and other vegetables with Anne, who’ll demonstrate the process, and then talk through the art of fermentation. Necessary supplies include: head cabbage, salt (sea salt preferred), large mixing bowl, cutting board and knife, quart or half gallon jar with (plastic) lid and dark towel. Optional supplies include: carrots, onions, hot pepper, caraway seeds, garlic, ginger and grater.
Anne has been succeeding at making krauts for a dozen years (and failing for fifteen) so they will be able to guide all through the pitfalls and perks of this living food. Participants will learn to DIY and enjoy this wonder food at home this winter.
Please register by emailing alison@eastportartscenter.org, by Saturday, January 30. Participants will receive their Zoom invitation on the 30th for the following day’s session. Funding for this free workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
Come and practice a hobby or learn something new – have fun and be creative! This program at SSANC is aimed at providing a relaxed social opportunity to Seniors in our community – a chance to explore and share arts knowledge and skills. Materials will be provided where required. Informal instruction with an experienced facilitator will be offered to provide the chance to explore new media and work on small projects. We encourage participants to work on their own projects, help each other with shared skills and social interaction.
Each 4-week block will look at different media, including pottery, painting, printing, stained glass, photography and more.
SSANC provides the studio space (with safe social distancing), basic materials and experienced instructors. Come and learn something new – or revisit a former hobby. These classes are designed to be flexible and responsive to students’ needs and preferences and can evolve as they go.
With thanks to funding from the ESDC New Horizons for Seniors grants program.
Machias Adult Ed Readers' Theater students will research ideas, choose a script, then read, analyze and discuss it in order to create an entirely remote performance piece using the Zoom Platform.
We'll use presentation, digital music, image and sound manipulation software to achieve "special effects" as students read their parts with scripts at-hand so there will be NO MEMORIZATION and no in-person meetings.
Students will gain the practical experience necessary to function as a member of a production team, learn to appreciate the collaborative nature of such work, the protocols of the professional theater and how to improve communication and organizational skills.
The Making in Place Intensive will empower artists/creatives over the course of 8 weeks to deepen their creative practice and draw on inspiration of community and place. We invite creative people of all ages to engage in weekly group zoom sessions and daily independent practice. This series is led by Eastport artist and educator, Anne Shields Hopkins. Anne will act as artistic coach, providing creative prompts and facilitating reflection. Making in Place will actively cultivate group process and peer support. This series will culminate in a COVID-safe, group collaborative event.
Elizabeth Nichols-Goodliff is inviting you to Zoom into Thursday night open mic. Perform for others or just listen.
OVERDRIVE: Full Saturation Benefit Show is a live streamed show, that features popular student artists from the Bangor area including: Midnight Breakfast, Mikey B., Otis, and so much more!
This music festival will be broadcasted over YouTubeLive, and hopefully have an impact outside of Bangor, and all over New England. The concert will effectively combine jazz, punk, rock, and rap to entertain people of all ages.
In addition, a GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for the local Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. We hope to put the “fun” in fundraising, and benefit all those in need
