The Bold Coast Runners invite you on weekly excursions around Downeast Maine and the Maritimes, with runners of all capabilities welcomed to join. Run venues vary weekly and range from 1 mile to 50 miles, from smooth tar to rugged single track.

Find out more »NB Woodcarving Competition and Sale
Head to the Sir James Dunn Academy (180 King Street) on August 13-14 for the New Brunswick Woodcarving Competition and Sale. There will be a large selection of carvings to see, along with live demonstrations. Carving supplies will be available for sale.
On Saturday, August 13, the event runs from 12-5 pm; on Sunday, it runs from 10 am-3 pm. If you'd like to compete in this competition, online pre-registration is open until August 8.

Eastport Gallery member Deborah Jellison's work will be showcased from August 14 through August 27. Her show is titled: Pattern/Figure/Nature. Inspired by the wooded landscapes and rocky coastline of her home, Deborah's work most often references the natural environment and incorporates lush overlays of gold, texture and pattern.

Every Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, come to the Stella Maris Community Hall in Beaver Harbour (837 Main St) for the Blacks Harbour jam. Musicians and singers of all capacities are invited to come and join in the fun - or just come to listen and kick up your heels.

Sunbury Shores is creating a window installation for displaying local poetry! Submit your poem to info@sunburyshores.org and we will select a collection to print for the public to enjoy! If you are looking for inspiration to get going, might we suggest the following: Create short phrases in your poetry that reach out to people as they pass; comfort them, make them think, share a thought that's stuck with you; or make poems that jump into people's pockets as they carry on through their day.

Youth between the ages of 8-12 are invited to participate in summer camps (beginning with Art, History, and Nature from July 11-15) organized by the St. Andrews Youth Centre. The camps run Monday through Friday, 1-4 pm.

The Maine Arts Commission is making a call to all Maine artists to submit proposals to design, create and install artwork in newly renovated spaces in Riverview Hall, the central building of the Washington County Community College in Calais, Maine. This call is open to all artists who are connected to Maine; those with local ties to Washington County are especially encouraged to apply.
The total project budget for artwork is $18,000 and the submission deadline is August 15, 5 pm ET. Click here for more details and link to the prospectus.

Nature’s Backpack Wilderness Adventure Summer Day Camp (Ages 5-12) is all about being outside and exploring the wild spaces and nature. We will embark each day on a journey exploring the natural world and sparking the innate curiosity to learn. There are also two upcoming camps for teenagers (13-16) teaching wilderness skills and knowledge.

Sunbury Shores invites you to participate in our Pop-up Festival of Plein Air, Ecology Inspires Me/L'écologie m'inspire, August 15-27. Any medium and any skill level! Choose your own days to paint.
Register your painting location with Sunbury Shores and work en-plein-air, inspired by the ecology of this area, the Western Isles Archipelago and its attending bays, inlets, and shores. Support the Campobello Fogfest with this raffle for a Yamaha FGX800C Solid-top Dreadnaught Acoustic/Electric guitar signed by every musician from Fogfest's 10th anniversary event. Package also includes two albums by Brent Mason.

The Little K Gallery in Eastport will have a “Fairy Garden” to explore on their lot at 76 High Street from July 22 - September 5, weather permitting. Adults and children will enjoy finding the little fairy picnic, a fairy house, fairy cafe, and other miniatures. While visiting, browse art in the little gallery and if you see something you like inside the box, take it! It’s free! (but leave the fairy scenes until September for others to enjoy first). Please feel inspired to bring any of your own little creations to the garden or gallery box too.

The Lubec Memorial Library is hosting an exhibition of collages by Deb Seavey for August. Each collage is made of snippets of various magazine photographs which have been glued onto heavy cardboard which has been recycled from discarded books.
Proceeds from each sale will be directly donated to The Lubec Memorial Library.

Sign up your young golf enthusiast for the Learn to Play 8-week intro to golf program at the Algonquin! These classes run Mondays from July 4 to August 22, 3 to 4 pm. Junior Girls can opt for a special class running July 4-25 on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30.

Do you or someone you know benefit from art as a recovery/support tool for mental health/illness? Please share your art with us! (You do not have to be a professional/expert!) CMHA of New Brunswick is excited to host our 4th annual Art In Mind exhibit at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre from November 10-19 and are accepting submissions by August 18.
Up to three original pieces can be submitted (as photographs or digital images of your work). Applications must include a brief (100 word) artist statement about how the creative process improves your well-being. Applications or questions should be sent to lisa.cheney@gnb.ca.
Find out more »Dastardly Dick’s: Dominic Noe exhibit
Dastardly Dick’s Wicked Good Coffee in Eastport is excited to display and sell the paintings of Dominic Noe. Aside from being an active artist in the local scene, Noe frequently volunteered at Stage East on and off stage and sat on the organization’s board from 2004-2008. A celebration of Noe’s life and work, the sale is currently on view and will run through the summer season. Proceeds will be donated to Stage East.
Stage East is a constituent group of Eastport Arts Center. More information about the group may be found at stageeast.org.
