Call for artists at Sunbury Shores
Sunbury Shores is now accepting applications to exhibit for the 2023 season! We are proud to host a diverse array of contemporary art exhibitions in our gallery spaces each year. Find the application here (due October 1).
Artists are also being sought for a Group Exhibition alongside "Goodnight Moon: a Rhythm, a Tempo", running October 1-29. Artwork should render a childlike sensibility - of wonderment, repetition, abstraction, amongst others - from an adult perspective. Apply here.

Find out more »Shipwrecks of Grand Manan
Grand Manan Museum is pleased to present Shipwrecks of Grand Manan, featuring underwater archeologist Eric Allaby, on August 18 at 7:30 pm. Learn about some of the several hundred shipwrecks that have taken place around the Grand Manan Archipelago since 1720, as Eric tells some engaging stories and visits shipwreck sites he surveyed, mapped and salvaged during the 1970s.
Admission by donation.

Find out more »The Northern Chihuahuan Desert: A few great vistas, hikes, and plants
The Northern Chihuahuan Desert is the focus of this special August 20 presentation at the Pembroke Library, featuring Kevin Hartley (retired petroleum engineer, Sierra Club Outings Leader, and Wilderness First Responder). Areas included are Big Bend, Guadalupe Mountains, White Sands National Park, and Big Bend Ranch State Park.
The presentation starts at 6:30 pm.

Come to the Grand Manan Museum on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:30 pm to see a collection of photographs by Peter Cunningham. Peter Cunningham has been summering on Grand Manan for his entire life. A professional photographer whose career was centered in New York City, Peter is an astute observer and an insightful writer.
On Thursday, August 25, there will be a separate program: New Brunswick's Newest Avian Immigrant - The Wild Turkey, with Jim Wilson. Click here to see more upcoming programs.

Find out more »ATV Scavenger Hunt
The Machias Ridge Riders are holding an ATV Scavenger Hunt on August 27 at 3 pm. The ride will begin and end at Middle River Park (behind the Machias Subway), and will take about four hours to complete. There will be about 20 items to find and take a selfie with. The more items you find, the more you'll be entered in to win!
Registration (on-site) is $5 per person.

The Washington County Fair (formerly the Pembroke Trotting Association Farm and Horse Fair) has been set for August 27-28! This year's event features children's games, train rides, craft tables, carriage rides, vegetable competitions, an antique car show, and more!
