The biggest pirate festival in New England and the Maritimes is held each year in Eastport! This year the festival runs from September 7-10 and includes returning favorites such as the Pirates of the Dark Rose and Ravenbane's Firecrafts and the Pirate Rum Barrel Relay Race.

The popular Second Saturday String Jams continue in 2023 at the Old Sow Grill in Eastport, on the second Saturday of each month from 3-5 pm. Come to play music or come simply to listen and enjoy. This jam is hosted by the house band, Moose Island Contradance, Etc. (MICE), and will be held monthly. MICE features Alice Schuth, Susan Luthin, Kara McCrimmon, Jim O'Neil and Joan Lowden. Music charts will be provided so all are encouraged to bring instruments and join the fun - fiddle, guitar, ukelele, banjo, spoons, bodhran, djembe, voice - all levels welcome.
Join us on the Downeast Restorative Harvest land for an unforgettable evening celebrating the innovative community garden program. The event will open with a prayer led by Dwayne Tomah, Passamaquody Language Keeper. Prepare to be enchanted by an incredible lineup of musicians featuring renowned fiddling sensation, Gus La Casse, and the soul-stirring sounds of Milk and Honey Rebellion. Jessica has been writing and performing for more than 20 years and has planted herself firmly on stages at major festivals and venues in Canada, the US and the UK. In addition she has co-written songs with a host of well known songwriters including Ken Tobias, Ron Sexsmith, Steve Poltz, Brent Mason and her bandmates. "The Downeast Saxophone Quartet" performs original arrangements of jazz, pop and original compositions. The quartet will be playing at 53 Main Street in Cherryfield on September 10 at 3 pm.

Gene Nichols, new Director of Quoddy Voices, is taking singers’ requests for the choir’s fall season, which begins Tuesday, September 12, 6-8 pm. Performances are scheduled for December 15-17. The group welcomes singers of all levels of experience; no audition is required.

The Eastport Arts Center’s Music for Children program is seeking young performers for a musical production of YOU CAN’T SIT HERE—A Children’s Opera, with music by Gregory Biss and script and lyrics by Catherine J.S. Lee, to be performed in October of 2023. Roles are available for young people who can portray 6th or 7th graders. This is a musical and all parts will involve singing; all experience levels are welcome to audition.

EAC is pleased to announce a new class, World Dance, to meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, 4-5 pm, beginning April 13. The group will learn modern and classic international dances from around the globe, including Pata Pata and Jerusalem, along with line dances. Providing both a great form of exercise and an engaging new skill, the class is offered on a drop-in basis; no preregistration is necessary. A $5/class donation is appreciated.

The Passamaquoddy Tribe at Motahkomikuk will be celebrating its heritage from September 15-17 at the Indian Township tribal government grounds with crafts, dances, and more.
Lubec's Pirate Day and Fall Festival is set for Saturday, September 16 at Stockford Park, with a daylong series of events planned for families, including a rubber ducky race.
