The successful applicant(s) will receive a full free week of tuition to Camp Woodward, the nation's premier extreme sports camp.

The Maine Owl Pellet Project wants you! The project is hoping to engage as many outdoors people as they can to increase the number of eyes on the lookout for owl pellets on the ground in Maine. TIMA is introducing the first of a series of hands-on learning activity kits based on an object or subject from our collections or exhibitions. The first activity kit is inspired by hand-painted porcelain china, which originated in England during the mid-Victorian era.
All hands-on learning activity kits will also be available to read as a PDF online or download from our website. Activities are designed to be done with supplies that are easy to find or may already be at home and include background information as well as detailed instructions.

Each workshop is designed to teach you to confidently make your own herbal extracts and show you how to use them. The workshops run May 20, June 17, August 26, September 16, and October 14.

Eastport Arts Center will offer a free 10-week session of Youth Drum Circles led by Gene Nichols on Wednesdays, beginning March 22. Each week there will be separate sessions for students age 9 to 13, from 3:30-4:40 pm, and for students age 14 to 20, from 4:45 to 5:45 pm. Participants will explore the world of percussion alongside Nichols, an engaging teacher who will provide a wide variety of instruments; students are also welcome to bring their own.
The sessions are offered free of charge thanks to a generous grant from Healthy Acadia. Pre-registration with Alison, alison@eastportartscenter.org, is encouraged, but youth are welcome to join in at any time. Please note that in case of weather-related school cancelation, Drum Circle too will be canceled.

Join Cobscook Institute for a morning of child-directed free play starting February 3 and continuing on Fridays from 10 am - 12 pm. Start the morning outside to get big energy out, and then step inside the “warming hut” for a cup of tea or cocoa (bring your own snacks). Indoor activities and free play conclude the morning.

In the midst of ongoing discussions surrounding climate change, understanding what the future holds for Downeast Maine can be very difficult. On March 31, University of Maine researcher Dominic Winski will present his research using alpine and polar ice cores to learn more about the Earth’s climate and how that knowledge can be applied to specific regions, such as Washington County.
The event will include a presentation followed by group discussion and Q&A.
Eastport Arts Center will offer a Clay Tile Workshop with Marlys Farn-Guillette on Saturday, April 1, from 1-4 pm. Participants will be guided through the process of hand building a clay tile, to be presented as a wall hanging or a free standing piece. The workshop is for ages 12 and up. Space is limited.
