A Summer Arts Camp will be offered for students ages 6-13, on July 11, 12, 14 and 15, 9:30 am-noon each day, at Eastport Arts Center. Instructors Sara Myrick, art, and L. Elwood, movement, will base activities on a ‘Kindness to Our Environment’ theme.

Arts Camp fee is $10/day per student, or $35 for all four days; snacks and all art materials are included. A sliding fee scale is available by request. Pre-registration is required; please email Alison Brennan at alison@eastportartscenter.org. Space is very limited, so please register early to save a place. Eastport Arts Center is handicapped-accessible and abides by State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, patrons are required to wear masks when in the EAC building.

On Saturday, July 23rd, DLLT is pleased to welcome mushroom expert Greg Marley back to Grand Lake Stream. Always a community favorite, Greg will lead a day-long workshop to discover all of the edible, medicinal, and cultural wonders of mushrooms! Meet at the Grand Lake Stream School Building at 9:30 am – the first half of the class will be held indoors, presenting varieties and foraging techniques, and the second half of the program will be an interactive walk in the Community Forest, with hands-on identification lessons. Participants should bring their own lunch and drinks, and dress for the outdoors.

EAC’s Summer Workshop Series continues with Meri Fern’s Upcycled Mosaic Frames on Tuesday, July 5 from 1:30-3:30 pm. Participants will use collected sea treasures and upcycled finds, incorporating favorite items brought from home if they wish, to make a mosaic frame to display.

This $20 session is intended for ages 12 and up; a sliding fee scale is available by request. Pre-registration is required; please email Alison Brennan. Please register early to save a place. The Community Caring Collaborative's Work Group meets with Poverty Busters on Zoom from 1:00-3:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month. Work Group members are direct service workers, volunteers and agency admins who come together to share resources, support each other and brainstorm solutions to community needs. Poverty Busters are low-income community members, partners from agencies, and other community members working on grassroots strategies to increase poverty awareness locally and to remove the barriers that poverty creates. Both groups are now meeting together to improve communication and to ensure that the CCC is effective in helping to change outcomes for those it serves. Parents, service providers and other community members are welcome!

Young children and their caregivers are invited to a KinderArts Music and Movement session on Friday, July 8, from 10-10:45 am. Instructor Elizabeth Nichols-Goodliff will unite the group with American Playground songs, dances and play party tunes.

KinderArts sessions are free, and are geared for ages 3-8 with a caregiver or parent. Younger siblings are also welcome. Sessions will also be offered July 22 and August 5. How to Dig 101

Come learn how to dig clams and learn the laws and regulations and information on licensing. Bring boots, a bucket and a clam fork if you have one. We'll have a small little clam bake to taste your efforts. Students will receive their recreational license for free for the year with class.

Adults cost is $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents and this will cover recreational license for a week, or you can upgrade to $25/$50 for the year. If you already have your recreational license or commercial license you can participate in this class.
