The 18th annual Down East Spring Birding Festival provides a unique birding experience during spring migration and the breeding season with four days of guided hikes, boat tours, and presentations, all led by local guides with local knowledge. The Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife has named the Down East Spring Birding Festival one of the best in the country, and Yankee Magazine listed it as an Editor’s Choice event in 2014.

Janis Lesbines will share everything you need to know to grow vegetables in your yard– choosing the best spot, making healthy soil, planting seeds, transplanting, garden maintenance and harvesting. We’ll also talk about companion planting–which vegetables like to be planted together to keep pests down and increase production, and succession planting–how you can use the same garden bed to grow a succession of vegetables to get the most out of your garden space.

Rain Date: May 30th, 1:00 – 3:00pm
This is a fun project anyone can do - no experience required! You will leave with a small ready-to-hang mosaic made with pieces of discarded dishes. You will learn how to break and cut pieces safely and effectively, and to apply them to a prepared backing.
If you wish, bring a special piece of your own to incorporate into the design. Materials and tools are supplied. Please bring your PPE Mask, apron and rubber gloves.
