Story Time Saturday with Porter Memorial Library

Porter Memorial Library will post a new, reading aloud segment called Story Time Saturday to its Facebook page beginning February 13, 2021. During the recorded session, a guest reader will read aloud from new and old children's literature. The library's first guest reader, Andrea McGill O'Rourke, will present the children's classic, Charlotte's Web by E. B. White.
Andrea will start by reading Chapters 1 to 3 on Saturday, February 13. Each Saturday a new recording will be posted to Facebook. The final chapters of Charlotte's Web will be available on Saturday, March 27. Listener/viewers can find Story Time Saturday at https://www.facebook.com/PorterMemorialLibrary.

Spring Fling Raffle

Wabanaki Natural Basket & Gift Shop 8 Back Road, Pleasant Point

Spring Fling ticket sales will benefit basketry classes at the shop, and there will also be "private raffles" with submissions from Gal Frey, Mary Daigle & Brenda Moore-Mitchell.

Raffle tickets can be purchased in person or online through Cash app/$brendamooremitchell. Photos to follow. start date for ticket sales will be March 1st, and the raffle will be on March 20th.

Time Capsule Submissions for St. Stephen 150

Garcelon Civic Centre 22 Budd Ave, Saint Stephen

The town of St. Stephen will be burying a time capsule on May 17th in celebration of our 150th anniversary and we want to know what you think 2046 will look like!

How to enter:

Send us your artwork showing what you think St. Stephen will look like 25 years from now! Artwork will be displayed at the Garcelon Civic Center and 2 lucky winners will win a caplet (9.8”x2.7”x3.1”) for their family to fill!

There is no cost to enter, simply drop off your art submissions now through March 31st at the main desk of the Garcelon Civic Center, attention St. Stephen 150 Committee

DownEast (Virtual) Country Dance Festival – 2021

DEFFA is working on partnering with Maine Fiddle Camp to present a Virtual Down East Country Dance festival on Saturday March 20 in the afternoon and evening. The final schedule is being worked out, but the festival will take place “in Zoom” with workshops for instruments, dancing, singing, and jamming. The evening program will include Maine Fiddle Camp’s “Maestro Bistro” concert program and a virtual contradance after.

Workshop: Needle Felted Landscapes with Paula Farrar

EAC's latest online workshop will include a thorough introduction to the techniques of needle felting with fiber artist Paula Farrar; participants will create a landscape image and/or a sunflower. Geared for students ages 12 and up, the class will cover color blending, use of the felting needle, pre-felt prep and design placement, shading and finishing; instruction will be suitable for felting beginners and more advanced students. Finished felt pieces will be sized to fit a 5x7" frame; other methods of display will be discussed.
Kits with all materials needed will be available either by local pickup, or for the first time with our workshop series—by direct mail. Participants are also welcome to join in for the Zoom class using their own materials.
