The Bold Coast Runners invite you on weekly excursions around Downeast Maine and the Maritimes, with runners of all capabilities welcomed to join. Run venues vary weekly and range from 1 mile to 50 miles, from smooth tar to rugged single track.

In the tradition of the Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Harald Saeverud Music Program (HSMP) presents the 2023 Fall Chamber Concert Series. The program features Trond Saeverud, violin, and Gregory Biss, piano, playing works by Poulenc, Janáček, Mozart, and Brahms. The concerts are Friday December 8 at 7 pm at the Centre Street Congregational Church in Machias, Saturday December 9 at 3 pm at Sunrise Community Center in Calais, and Sunday December 10 at 3 pm at Eastport Arts Center. Receptions follow each concert. The suggestion donation at the door is $15 for adults, students free, and no one turned away. The Christmas Forest is now open! The Christmas Forest is an outdoor event located in Perry, Maine. With over 100,000 lights, and a synchronized music and light show this forest trail mesmerizes. Guests can walk the trail at their leisure.

A writers’ group for people seeking help and constructive input on their in-progress work is scheduled to kick off Monday, February 6, at the Eastport Arts Center. The group, led by published author Catherine J.S. Lee and retired writing teacher Paula Horvath, will meet every other Monday beginning at 6:30 pm at the Center for about two hours. Suggested donation of $5/session; sliding fee scale is available by request (no one turned away). The Used Book Shop at the Pembroke Library is offering a huge sale between American Thanksgiving (November 23 and Christmas (December 25). All books will be only 25 cents! Expanded hours in the shop during this event will include any day the library is open. Tuesdays 9-noon and 3-5, Wednesdays 3-5, Thursdays 9-noon, Fridays 3-5, Saturdays 9-noon, Sunday and Monday closed (US times).
Sunbury Shores is pleased to announce an ongoing online writing group that will be meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of each month via Zoom. On the second Tuesday of each month, the group will meet from 10:00 to 11:30 am; on the fourth Tuesday, it will meet from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
