Felt Fest: A three-day series of wool-felting workshops for all levels

Eastport Arts Center (EAC) 36 Washington Street, Eastport

Eastport Arts Center’s first-ever Felt Fest is a three-day series of wool felting workshops for students of all levels, running July 9-11. Students may sign up for all 5 classes, which include both wet and dry methods, or choose among them. Felting is a meditative and fascinating tactile process, and instructor Audra Christie has enjoyed exploring the huge range of applications of the medium. Details of the five workshops and more information about Audra may be found here.

Join celebrated florist Sarah Ryhanen of Saipua (Hudson Valley, NY) for a multi-day workshop here at Smithereen Farm, co-presented by Greenhorns. We welcome you to the farm July 10–12.
Workshop fee includes some shared meals (beautiful farm-fresh food prepared by Charlotte and Zoe!) and lodging (choose between camping, glamping, and a private room in an historic house by the river). Stay for the weekend! On Friday after the workshop we’ll have a harp performance at the farm and Spa Day in the orchard with soaking tubs and wood fired sauna.

Join Dr. Jim Oberly as he takes us back to the 1860s to learn about John P. Sheahan who was born and raised in Dennysville, Washington County, Maine. Following his older brother William, the 20-year-old John volunteered for the Union Army in 1862 and served in the First Maine Cavalry Regiment as an enlisted trooper, and later as a commissioned officer in the 31st Maine Infantry Regiment.

This is a hybrid class - held in-person in UMM’s room SCI 102 and via Zoom. Free for members of Sunrise Senior College; $10 for the general public.
