Submissions wanted for winter art show

Machias Memorial High School One Bulldog Lane, Machias

The Machias Arts Council has some available spots at this year's Winter Art Show on December 2. The date is in conjunction with 2 other events nearby to capitalize on the traffic that will already be in the area. There is no cost to the artist and no commissions charged. The spaces are approximately 8x10 and you would need to bring everything you need to display your art.

If you are interested in participating, please email the Council at MAC@machiasartscouncil.org. You should include a link to your website or social media page, or examples of your work.

Call for submissions: Poems & Letters for Lewiston

Two Bays Poetry Pen-Pals, a free by-mail poetry exchange between Atlantic Canada and Washington County, ME, has opened to writers from anywhere, for a special project. They will collect mailed letters and poems written in support of the people of Lewiston, and deliver them to the community.

Presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick, an exhibition by people expressing their mental health struggles through art.

The opening reception will be held from 5-7 pm; the exhibit will run through November 25.

There will be an ongoing monthly grief support group in St. George at St. Mark's Anglican Church/Community Hub (28 Main St.) starting on July 19 and running from 1-3 pm. The groups will continue on the third Tuesday of each month.

Rope Repurposing Workshops

Huntsman Marine Science Centre 1 Lower Campus Road, St. Andrews

Each #DebrisFreeFundy Rope Repurposing Workshop teaches participants how to make elaborate woven crafts using rope collected from southwest New Brunswick harbours and then you get to take your woven craft home with you! On November 21 from 6-8 pm, learn to make an Ocean Plait Mat; on December 5 from 6-8 pm, a holiday wreath.

The St. George Royal Canadian Branch 38 holds weekly events and the community is invited. On Monday, TOPS is held at 6:00 pm; contact Jimmy at 755-6042 for Cribbage Monday Nights.
