Book Launch: Superkids vs The Water Monster

Join Nature's Backpack (969 Route 769 in Rollingdam) for this amazing reading of the Book “Superkids vs The Water Monster” a tale about educating a monster who unknowingly pollutes the water. It will be a unique story, one you have never heard before as the Students met with Author Sandra Wilson to create their characters and story.

There will be a chance to win a book and other prizes! Light refreshments too! Support our students as we have something special for them too. If you wish to purchase a book, we ask to place your order by Friday April 28th by noon or order on Thursday. $10 can be e-transferred to accounts@naturesbackpack.ca

Beat the Feet/Indoor walking

Eastern Charlotte Lions Club 5316 Rte 1, Pennfield

Head to the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for some indoor walking starting at 5:30 pm. Bring your walking shoes, hang your coat and leave your boots in entryway. Enjoy a coffee and chatting with friends.

Membership $10/week plus bring a non perishable food item.

EAC to Host Series of Events with Visiting Irish Musician

The Eastport Arts Center is pleased to present a series of events, May 2-6, with renowned Irish fiddler Gerry O’Connor, including workshops, a lecture, a concert and an open jam. Workshops will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 2-4, 6-7 pm, as follows: May 2—Reels; May 3—Music of Oriel; May 4—Jigs. The workshops are open to all ages and experience levels, but some ability on the fiddle is recommended.

A free lunchtime lecture, “The Rose in the Gap: Dance Music of Oriel” will be offered on Wednesday, May 3, noon-1 pm. An evening concert, for which O’Connor will be joined by Kevin McElroy, will be offered Friday, May 5 at 7 pm, featuring a selection of Irish fiddle compositions. As finale of his time in Eastport, O’Connor will host an open jam session from 3-5 pm, Saturday, May 6, at the Old Sow Grill in Eastport.

Understanding Contemporary Art with Kate Giles

This lecture series will cover famous artworks and their lesser-known counterparts to define the art movements from the 1900s that have influenced the work we see now. By providing an overview of the last century of Western art and connect current art trends into context and develop your ability to speak about art as a whole.
