Music lessons can be very expensive but through the Grand Manan library you can now access many different lessons for an instrument of your choice. You will do it from the comfort of your home, at your own pace. Each instructor is a master musician who takes you step by step through the lessons.

The Bold Coast Runners invite you on weekly excursions around Downeast Maine and the Maritimes, with runners of all capabilities welcomed to join. Run venues vary weekly and range from 1 mile to 50 miles, from smooth tar to rugged single track.

The Bates Family Orchard 1222 route 850, Keirsteadville

The Bates Family Orchard is excited to be offering a corn maze this year! The maze is open Fridays from 10 am-6 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9 am-6 pm. We will have our Honeycrisp rows open and a new picture display as well!

Price is $7 each or $25 for a family. Honeycrisp apples are $2.25 a pound and pumpkins are $3-8 depending on size. Cash only.

Halloween Hike

Yacolucci Woods Route 1, Talmadge

Dress up in your best Halloween costume and come prepared to trick-or-treat amongst the trees! Along the way, meet some of the forests' spookiest night-time critters and learn more about what these animals do after dark. This short walk is easy for people and families of all ages. Admire jack-o-lanterns along the way and stay afterwards for hot-cocoa and spooky stories around a bonfire.

The walk will be held at the Yacolucci Woods - US Route 1, Talmadge.

Would you like to learn how to draw people from life? Sunbury Shores is offering sessions that can be signed up for individually or as a series, from October 2-December 11. These sessions are for beginners and experienced drawers who are interested in practicing drawing the human figure. A model will do multiple poses to challenge your perception and way of seeing the figure.

Stage East Season Premiere: Dracula: the Musical?

Eastport Arts Center (EAC) 36 Washington Street, Eastport

Stage East's season premiere, Dracula: the Musical?, opens October 21 and runs through October 30, with evening shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Sunday matinees at 2 pm. The book, music, and lyrics were penned by Rick Abbot, an editor and science fiction, mystery, and humor writer who came late to the world of theater. The rollicking musical comedy takes aim at the classic horror tale Dracula, giving its characters and scenarios new life.

Adult tickets are $15; 17 and under free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at stageeast.org. Stage East is a constituent group of Eastport Arts Center. EAC is handicapped-accessible and abides by the State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, the EAC recommends that people wear masks when in our building.

Village of Blacks Harbour 50th Anniversary skating events

Patrick Connors Recreation Complex 65 Wallace Cove Road, Blacks Harbour

The Village of Blacks Harbour is turning 50 this year, and to celebrate, public skating events will be held at the Patrick Connors Recreational Complex.

On Sundays through February 19, from 12:45-1:45 pm, children and youth are invited to participate in Pucks and Sticks where they can learn some hockey basics at no cost. On Fridays, come for Public Skating from 5:30-7:30 pm. Admission is $2 a skater. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult to either event.

Come join us at The Kitchen-Blacks Harbour for our three night Halloween Event on October 28-30! Expect to see creatures and random things appear from within the walls during the guided tour down the winding stairs, with your party of five, through the basement of The Kitchen-Blacks Harbour. The tour ends with a sweet treat. Patio tour available for those with smaller monsters in their party.

The tour runs from 7:30-8:30 pm each evening. $2 suggested donation.
