Applications now accepted for LAMPS Music Scholarship

The Lubec Area Musicians and Philanthropy Society (LAMPS) is excited to announce the Bob Judd Memorial Scholarship, established in 2021 by LAMPS with the support of the family and friends of Robert L. Judd. Bob was a generous and beloved citizen of Lubec Maine and made it a habit to support students and local musicians. The scholarship is designed to do just that, with a $1000 award made each year.

Managed by the Maine Community Foundation and awarded by LAMPS, eligible applicants must be a resident of Washington County Maine and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Music. Applications are due by May 31st. The award is granted in June. For more information regarding the work of LAMPS and the scholarship go to the LAMPS website www.lampsdowneast.org.

Spring food drive in Grand Manan

Grand Manan Independent Grocer is holding a Spring Food Drive for the local Grand Manan Food Bank! Here are some ways you could help!

Add a pre-made bag of items by checkout lane 3 to your grocery order and drop it in the Food Bank bin on your way out; add a cash donation to your next grocery order; or pick out your own items for the Food Bank and leave them in the Food Bank bin by the exit. 100 percent of all funds and food donated goes directly to the food bank.

Annual Youth Art Show On View

Eastport Arts Center (EAC) 36 Washington Street, Eastport

The 8th Annual Youth Art Month Exhibition is currently on view at Eastport Arts Center's Washington Street Gallery. Works have been submitted by area art teachers from Calais Jr./Sr. High School, Elm Street School (East Machias), Eastport Elementary, Machias Jr./Sr. High School, Pembroke Elementary, Rose M. Gaffney Elementary (Machias), Shead High School (Eastport), Sipayik Elementary, Washington Academy, Whiting Village School and Woodland Jr./Sr. High School, as well as by home schooled students. The show will run through May 16, and is viewable during EAC events or by chance, or during special open hours 1-3 pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Eastport Arts Center is handicapped-accessible and abides by State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, patrons are required to wear masks when in the EAC building.
