Cobscook Institute seeking donations for #GivingTuesday

In an effort to raise $22,000 in program scholarship funds for the families of Washington County and develop some of the suggestions made for the #SomedayatCobscook campaign, Cobscook Institute is seeking donations on Tuesday, November 30. Any donations that come in on this day will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Mark and Kathleen Beaudoin (up to $10,000) and will be potentially matched with a $100 donation (regardless of the size of the donation) throughout the day.

Donations can be made through this form on November 30.

Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews is requesting donations for a Christmas market as they would like to give residents the opportunity to shop for their loved ones. Requested items include calendars, stuffed toys, wrapping paper, packaged candy, ornaments, etc. (new or used condition).

Grand Manan Rotary Christmas Raffle

The Rotary Club of Grand Manan Island is raffling off a series of items for Christmas, including a 45" x 51" lap quilt, a handmade Deichmann pottery dish, a 16 lb stuffed butterball turkey, an Eric Allaby framed print of a yellowlegs, and George the Smokehouse Kitten storybooks.

Draw date will be December 18. To buy a ticket ($10 or three for $20), send an eTransfer to grandmananrotary@gmail.com or see a Rotarian.

Quilt Raffle

Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue 1100 Ayer's Junction Rd, Charlotte

Win a beautiful "Hills and Furrows" Log Cabin Scrappy Quilt made by four Charlotte-based quilters (Bonnie Hunter, Peggy Sawyer, Merrily Sparling, and Marilyn Wimmergren) and quilted in the "Baptist Swirl" design to benefit Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Proceeds will be used to purchase cold water rescue gear. This warm and cozy covering can be won by purchased tickets at $5 each. The quilt is 82" by 82" and will fit either a full or queen bed comfortably.

Tickets can be purchased from Charlotte firefighters and auxiliary members. Don't delay as the winner will be drawn when all tickets are sold. The fire station can be reached at (207) 454-8406 or on Facebook.

Eastport Gallery is closed for the season, but more than fifty works by its members are on display through the virtual gallery, including some pieces that are bursting with seasonal colors. You’ll find works in oil, ink, pastel, ceramics and even sea glass! Plus, there is a special section for greeting cards and books if you are looking for a small gift for a friend.

Registration Open for the Calais List of Lights

Town of Calais Main Street, Calais

The Calais List of Lights is a community-wide event that encourages residents to participate in a shared Christmas lights driving exhibit. Add your home to the list by sending a reply to this Facebook post with your name and street address. All entries must be submitted by November 30 to be added to the list.

Last year's event brought hundreds of smiles and feel-goods, as well as people from out of town who came to view the decorations! A map will be created and passed around on Facebook once the list is complete. See last year's map here.

Lubec Annual Senior/Veteran Holiday Dinner

Lubec and Trescott area ME

A holiday dinner delivery will be provided to any senior/veteran within the Lubec/Trescott area. If you were delivered a meal last year, you will receive a call to ask if you would like to be included this year. If you did not participate last year and are a senior/veteran or know one living within the Lubec or Trescott community and would like a warm holiday meal delivered to your door, please call the community center at (207) 733-5262 to be included in the delivery route. We will continue to accept registrations until November 30.

Keeping with tradition, the Masons Washington Lodge #37 AF&AM Lubec will be cooking a delicious meal and the Lubec Women’s Club will be baking up a storm of yummy sweets! “We want to keep our community members safe.” states Eleody Libby, LCOC Director, “Therefore, like last year, we will be delivering the meal.”

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre 139 Water Street, St. Andrews

Just in time for holiday shopping! This exhibition at Sunbury Shores in St. Andrews showcases over 250 pieces by over 50 local artists: pottery, jewelry, paintings, photography, woodworking, fine textiles, and more. It will run through December 31.

The opening reception for this exhibit is Friday, November 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Attendance for the opening reception is limited to 16 attendees per half-hour time slot. This event is free, however, advance booking is required. Due to the limited number of time slots and the high number of artists, we ask that bookings be limited to a max of 2 tickets, please.
