Become a Maine Master Naturalist

Washington County Community College One College Drive, Calais

The mission of the Maine Master Naturalist Program is to train people to be volunteer naturalists who will enrich nature education in Maine. In a year-long course, MMNP teaches participants to volunteer for organizations around the state and inspire all kinds of audiences about Maine’s natural world.

In the Place Where You Live by Theresa MacKnight

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre 139 Water Street, St. Andrews

In the Place Where You Live is a collection of oil paintings depicting local wildlife at night. Theresa MacKnight lives in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. She works mainly in oil and encaustic, both in her studio and plein air. MacKnight was trained in Fine Art at Mount Allison University and Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Theresa exhibits her work in public and private galleries throughout New Brunswick. She has been the recipient of Arts NB grants and several residencies in venues such as KIRA International Residency for the Arts, The River Arts Centre, Florenceville and Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre.

Theresa is active in the New Brunswick arts community including service on the board of Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre. She is a retired high School Visual Art Specialist and continues to teach adult and children’s workshops.

Walking Time at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium

Adults 55 and up are invited to utilize the flat, indoor walking space at the aquarium for a healthy and protected place to keep moving this fall. Walks will be held at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00 am through December 15.

Preregistration is not required. Cost is $2 at the door, or members get in free.

Seniors Lunch

Happy Home Nursing and The Village's Program Coordinator would love you to join them for lunch on Friday November 5 at 1:00 pm at the Grand Manan Curling Club! If you'd like to bring a dish to share, please feel free!

Masks are required and socially distanced eating will be set up. Please bring a donation for the food bank as the holiday season is just around the corner. Canned goods are always welcomed, as well as canned beans, veggies, cranberry sauce, cereals, and juice boxes.

Food Fermentation Class

Downeast Lakes Land Trust is pleased to present a free Food Fermentation Class, led by Laura Brown of Pembroke. Participants will learn all the basics of food fermentation, it’s use as a healthy preservative, and will learn to make sauerkraut and kimchi. After the class, students can sample Laura’s finished products.

Anchorage Wellness Walks

Anchorage Provincial Park Anchorage Road, Grand Manan

Join wellness coach Heather Brown for Anchorage Wellness Walks to help support the Anchorage Provincial Park trails upgrade project and promote personal wellness. Walks will be conducted regularly on Fridays at 7 pm and Saturdays at 4 pm.

Lori Ferguson at Punch Lines Comedy Club

Punch Lines Comedy Club 9 Sydney Street, Saint John

Comedian Lori Ferguson will be performing at the Punch Lines Comedy Club in St. John on November 5 and 6 at 8:00 pm!

Lori has been a professional stand-up comic for over 20 years. She began her love for comedy in 1988. A bit of a fairytale beginning…while working as a waitress, one of her regulars offered to sponsor her dream of stand- up comedy as a career. Soon after Lori was voted B.C.’s Funniest New Comic and four years later B.C.’s Funniest Woman. Lori has toured all over Canada and the United States, she has graced the stages of Yuk Yuk’s, The Improv, The Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store…just to mention a few. Lori has also made television appearances on CTV, CBC, WTN and The Comedy Network, as well as CBC Radio’s Madly Off In All Directions.
