Sugar & Spice Drive

Branches of the First National Bank ME

Sugar & Spice and everything nice! The branches of First National Bank are collecting sweet treats & seasonings for the Sugar & Spice Drive from now until November 13. All donations will be distributed to food pantries in Maine communities from Wiscasset to Calais.

The most requested seasonings and goods for families over the holidays are: cake and cookie mix, brownie and muffin mix, cinnamon, salt and pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and taco seasoning.

Registration opens for Principles of Oil Painting

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre 139 Water Street, St. Andrews

In this twelve-hour course, participants will learn the basics of oil painting through structured activities and practice. Emphasis will be on an introduction to foundational principles that participants can build upon. Class will run 13th of November, November 18, 25 & December 2, 9, on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sunbury Shores.

Theresa MacKnight is a highly accomplished artist and art teacher. She has won numerous awards and has been exhibited widely across New Brunswick. As a full-time, high school art teacher, Theresa has extensive knowledge of working in different mediums and teaches with patience, encouragement and genuine consideration of individuals’ needs.

Little Wild Ones Club

Grand Lake Stream School Building 15 Water Street, Grand Lake Stream

Join DLLT Education and Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Cote, every Tuesday from 10 am – 12 pm, for the Little Wild Ones Club! Geared for ages 0-5, the Little Wild Ones will go on nature adventures in the Downeast Lakes Community Forest. Hiking, stream exploration, games, activities, and more! This program is free for everyone, and no commitment or reservations are needed – come when it’s convenient and stay as long as you’d like! Be prepared for outdoor weather. The Little Wild Ones Club will meet at the Grand Lake Stream School Building, and the first meeting is on October 19th.

Water Color Art Classes in Calais

Join us at the Huntsman Fundy Discovery Aquarium for one of our fall rope repurposing workshops!

On October 9th we will be creating a Halloween Basket (12+). On November 4th you will take home a Fall Wreath (12+). On December 2nd participants will create a Holiday Ocean Plait Mat.
