Branches of the First National Bank ME

Sugar & Spice and everything nice! The branches of First National Bank are collecting sweet treats & seasonings for the Sugar & Spice Drive from now until November 13. All donations will be distributed to food pantries in Maine communities from Wiscasset to Calais.

The most requested seasonings and goods for families over the holidays are: cake and cookie mix, brownie and muffin mix, cinnamon, salt and pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and taco seasoning.

Walking Time at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium

Huntsman Marine Science Centre 1 Lower Campus Road, St. Andrews

Adults 55 and up are invited to utilize the flat, indoor walking space at the aquarium for a healthy and protected place to keep moving this fall. Walks will be held at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00 am through December 15.

Preregistration is not required. Cost is $2 at the door, or members get in free.

Tips and Tipping for Long-Lasting Holiday Decorations

University of Maine Cooperative Extension and University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension will offer a webinar about creating winter holiday decorations from available natural materials from 6–7:15 p.m. Nov. 1.

Tips and Tipping for Long-Lasting Holiday Decorations” will show how to harvest and handle evergreens, and how to create both traditional and contemporary decorations. Presenters will be Dave Fuller, UMaine Extension agriculture and nontimber forest products professional; Lynne Holland, Extension horticulture and social media professional; and Molly Friedland, owner-operator of The Little Red Flower Truck, Ellsworth.

This is the first in a six-part winter gardening webinar series offered monthly through March for Maine and New Hampshire gardeners. Country by Design Ceramics

Lubec Community Outreach Center 44 South Street, Lubec

Come to the Lubec Community Outreach Center on Mondays and Wednesdays evenings to get some hands-on instruction in ceramics with Gina Brown-Delnicki of Country by Design.

Sit and paint or classes are $5 a night; this does not include your bisque project, lighting kits, extra firing if needed, etc. There will be brushes to use, as well as others to purchase and information on where to buy more.

There are a limited number of seats available, so please contact Gina Brown-Delnick on Facebook if you are interested. These classes are adults only, but classes for children 10 and up may be starting later in the fall if there is enough interest.
