St. Andrews 2021 Heritage Hunt

This year, due to pandemic restrictions, the annual Heritage Hunt Raffle has been launched as a new fund-raising effort. This is a fun activity to do with others that involves exploring St. Andrews's unique heritage features, so encourage your visitors, family and friends to participate. To do so, buy a $10 ticket from a local vendor (or at the Historic Archives), take a short walk round four blocks and enter for a chance at a daily door prize at the Historic Jail and one of the valuable prizes in the grand prize draw. Remember that once you have a ticket in hand you can participate at any time up to Thanksgiving weekend (through Monday, October 11).

Discover Watercolour Painting with David Reeves

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre 139 Water Street, St. Andrews

This course is for those that have always wanted to try painting with watercolours. While watercolour can be unpredictable it is this property that makes it an exciting and fun medium to explore. It also lends itself to quick results, is generally non-toxic (depending on the pigments used) and is easy to clean up. Aimed at beginner to emerging watercolour painters, this course will present classic transparent watercolour techniques with an emphasis on the impact of paper, water and paint interaction on the painting process.

You will learn how to choose materials and tools, the basics for applying water and paint to paper, creating texture, lighting and more.

Eastport Pirate Festival

After a year's absence, the celebrated Eastport Pirate Festival is back to help bring in some raucous cheer!

The Eastport Pirate Festival is a weekend of fun for the whole family featuring pirates, cannons, treasure, games, costumes, vendors and more! Come and see the largest pirate festival in New England and the Maritimes and pay homage to Passamaquoddy Bay's long-detailed history of smuggling.

It all begins with the invasion of Lubec on September 4. Be on either side of the bay (or take a boat ride across!) to get the full flavor of maritime merriment. The following weekend sees the rest of the events kick off.

The Tides Institute & Museum of Art presents its Summer Exhibition: "Dark Harbor - The Early Lithographs of Stow Wengenroth", on display now through September 24. Wengenroth was a master of lithography dedicated to the scenery and wildlife of New England in the early 20th century. Summer museum hours will be Tuesday - Sunday from 10-4.

You can catch Ginny teaching all levels of outdoor classes at Stockford Park in Lubec on Sundays from 10-11 am, and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Outdoor classes run through the end of October.

Ginny Beisel is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher living in Lubec Maine. She discovered yoga while healing from a running injury and fell in love with yoga’s simple but powerful practices. She believes in helping her students discover and explore yoga’s dynamic nature in their own unique way. By leading classes that are accessible and affordable, Ginny strives to bring equity to the yoga community.
