This is the third of FOUR sessions provided by The Eastern Maine CA$H Coalition at Peavey Library for low to mid-income individuals to seek assistance with filing their taxes. Taxes will be prepared off-site by IRS certified tax preparers. Volunteers will be available to assist with intake on Monday, March 2, from 2:00-7:00 pm (with pick-up for completed taxes on Monday, March 9, from 2:00-5:00 pm) Clients must call the library to make an appointment, and need to bring all required materials with them. A maximum of 30 minutes is allotted per person, so it is necessary to have your paperwork in order prior to arriving for your appointment. To make and appointment, and get a list of necessary materials, please call the library, 853-4021.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration

Peavey Library in Eastport will be hosting a number of upcoming programs. During the week of March 2-7, Peavey's foster grandparent Grammy Helen will offer a series of activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Included will be a Read-a-thon of Dr. Seuss books, a Cat in the Hat Birthday Word Search, Dr. Seuss-themed coloring sheets, and other activities and games. Children and their adults are encouraged (but not required) to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. Grammy Helen's schedule will be slightly altered in order for her to be here on Dr. Seuss's actual birthday on March 2nd. Seuss-themed fun will be available on Monday, March 2 from 2:30-5, Thursday, March 5 from 2:30-5, and Saturday, March 7 from 10-3. Participants may come to any or all of the sessions.

Quoddy Voices Rehearsals Resume

Rehearsals will resume for Quoddy Voices' spring concerts on Monday, March 2, at Eastport Arts Center. This season the chorus will celebrate the bicentennial of Maine statehood with a program that is all about Maine. The program will will feature a variety of works, including the late 18th century “Handel of Maine”; arrangements of songs originating from the Shaker communities in Maine, including Aaron Copland's classic setting of “Simple Gifts”; and a medley of songs from "Carousel," the musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, set in coastal Maine. The chorus will also present a fascinating mix of works by Maine composers Anna Dembska, Gregory Biss, Colie Brice and director John Newell.
