Designed to take advantage of dramatic changes in weather and light during the fall season, this project-based workshop will introduce you to topics such as visual design, understanding light, developing a concept, critiquing, and more. Using the historic seaside town of St. Andrews as our base, we’ll explore the area’s dramatic tides, stunning landscapes, botanical gardens and village life in ways that will inspire and challenge you.
The week includes lectures and slide presentations, editing sessions, and individual critiques, with participants working towards developing a cohesive body of work. Time will be available for practical instruction in camera settings and photo editing, as well as discussions on black & white photography, colour theory, composition, exhibition and presentation methods, printing on fine art papers, or submitting work to galleries.
Quoddy Voices will resume weekly rehearsals starting Monday, September 16 at 7 pm, in preparation for concerts on December 6 and 8. The theme for the upcoming concerts is "Classics of the Season," and the program will include selected choruses and arias from the Christmas portion of George Frederick Handel’s great work "Messiah." Other works include seasonal classics by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Franz Biebl, Morten Lauridsen and the inimitable P.D.Q. Bach. In addition, tunes from "The Nutcracker" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" will surely leave audience members humming all the way home. Quoddy Voices welcomes new singers, with no audition required.Find out more »
