LAMPS (the Lubec Area Musicians's Philanthropic Society) presents the Machias Blueberry Jam, an evening to enjoy Down East music scene featuring local musicians, artists and support local charities at the same time. This event will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Bad Little Falls Park, Machias, Maine.  Admission is free, donations gratefully accepted.  Now accepting sponsors and in-kind donations for raffles to fund raise for this event.  Donations can be mailed to LAMPS 10 County Road Lubec, ME 04652 or through our facebook page Please e-mail to be a volunteer.

15th Annual West Grand Lake Race

Downeast Lakes Land Trust is thrilled to host the 15th Annual West Grand Lake Race!  This flatwater paddle race is a family-friendly event that has become a Grand Lake Stream favorite.  All non-motorized watercraft are invited to participate in race distances of 4, 6, or 12 miles.  Prior to the longer distances, we will host a special “kids race” for everyone to enjoy.  Registration will be held from 9:15 – 10:15 am, followed promptly by a pre-race meeting at 10:30 am.  Registration fees are $25 for adults (13 and older) and $15 for children (12 and under).  Pre-register before August 9th, and save $5 per person!  Registration includes a t-shirt and a post-race cookout lunch, held at the start/finish line.  All proceeds benefit the conservation efforts of Downeast Lakes Land Trust.  For more information, or to pre-register, please contact Downeast Lakes Land Trust at (207) 796-2100, or email

EAC’s Summer Workshop Series will conclude with a special two-day workshop, Figurative Ceramic Sculpture with Elizabeth Ostrander on Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 18, from 12:30-4:30 pm. Participants will learn to use traditional hand-building techniques and the plasticity of clay to create a large-scale work. This accumulative process creates exciting juxtaposed surface textures, allowing the work to have personality, gesture and expression. The workshop is intended for participants ages 12 and up.
