This course places strong emphasis on a complete understanding of colour and light as it relates to creating the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. Eastport Arts Center’s Summer Workshop Series continues with sea glass light-catchers and mobiles with Sue MacNichol on Tuesday, August 13 from noon-2 pm. Participants will learn to make hanging sculptures from their (smallish) beach finds; additional materials will be available. The workshop is intended for ages 10 and up; younger children may attend with an adult to help them.Find out more »
With all of the beautiful and captivating images of the Downeast Lakes Community Forest, outdoor photography is the perfect medium to capture memories and moments from the area. On Tuesday, August 13, Downeast Lakes Land Trust is thrilled to host Adam Woodworth for this exciting presentation and workshop. Owner of Adam Woodworth Photography, Adam will present some of his own photos of the area, and then lead participants on a photographic trek around Grand Lake Stream, lending some tips and tricks for great outdoor shots. Zen DownEast, a welcoming group of meditation practitioners, meets Tuesdays from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Downeast Massage Therapy building at 848 U.S. Rte 1, Pembroke, ME. The one-hour meetings include Zen meditation, Zen liturgy, and meditation instruction. We also offer drop-in classes on the writings of Zen Master Eihei Dogen from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm which you are warmly invited to join at any time.
