Art Escape – Painting Class with Jay Dampf

Escape the creative confines of a highly structured art class and participate in a unique course where each student is taught in the media and style of their own choosing. During this course, you will be encouraged to bring ideas that mean something to you. Students will have an opportunity to contact the instructor prior to the course so that he may best help you prepare for a most enjoyable "Art Escape". This course will begin with some clear, practical drawing exercises to enhance observation and portrayal skills. The remainder of the course will be devoted to individual instruction in the mediums, styles and subjects of each learner’s choosing. This is an excellent opportunity for students to expand their knowledge of their favorite medium or learn the basic skills of a new one. Students will also learn a great deal through demonstration given to others in their mediums and styles.

Birds of a Feather Exhibition

For this show three artist have created works using their own interpretation of the same species of birds. Dianna Ammons Johnson expresses her passion for birds through her photography.  Bonnie Clymer began to experiment with combining gold leaf and oil painting while and discovered that a gold leaf background placed emphasis on the shape and texture of the image it surrounded. Michael Morse is a folk artist who uses driftwood, glass, found objects and a sense of humor to create three dimensional pieces.  Birds are a favorite subject and many of the natural items used often have bird-like qualities.

The 15th Annual Moose Island Follies, EAC’s spectacular fundraiser, will be held at 4 pm and 7:30 pm on Wednesday, July 3. The action-packed variety show will include music, theater, comedy, and more with a a mix of new acts and old favorites from near and far. Proceeds from the follies are an important part of supporting EAC’s extensive efforts for all ages, including local outreach and diverse year-round programming. Special champagne tickets are available which get the viewer a front row seat, a free chance at the raffle prize, a glass of bubbly beverage and tasty hors d’oeuvres served at their seat while they enjoy live pre-show music. Champagne seats are $30; reserved seats are $20; general admission is $15 and attendees 17 and under are admitted for $5.
