At midnight Eastern time, an 8-foot sardine will take the plunge, as the brass band plays “Auld Lang Syne.” The Minor CHaracters will play music at StudioWorks from 9 pm until just before midnight. Stage East continues its tradition of presenting New Year's Eve comedies in 2018 with its newest production, suitably named "Two More New Year's Comedies.” Directed by Brian Schuth, this hour-long production features an anarchic piano lesson and an an awkward and revealing conversation in an airplane. The father/son acting team of Brian and Roy Duffy, residents of Perry, will conduct the piano lesson in David Ives' Roll Over Beethoven. Shari Wilner's Relative Strangers features actresses from the Whiting and Machias areas. Eustacia Landrum plays a young woman in desperate need of a mother, and Anna Baskerville, a veteran of Stage East and the Magnificent Liars, plays her extremely reluctant seatmate. Jessica Brisette is the stewardess who watches, waits, and tries to engineer a happy ending.
