Workshop: Leaf Printing with Ann Cannizzaro

November 12, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm UTC-5

Eastport Arts Center will host a Leaf Printing workshop with popular instructor Ann Cannizzaro on Sunday, November 12, from 1-4 pm. Attendees will enjoy capturing the beauty of nature as they learn the printmaking process from start to finish. All materials will be provided for students to print using fabric inks and paints on fabric and paper. Foam brushes and ink rollers will be used, along with inking plates. Students will learn how to ink the leaves to create clean prints, get some practice time, then combine leaf types and ink colors to create a pleasing design on a placemat ideal for dressing a Thanksgiving table.

Students will learn a process that they’ll be able to do at home using easily accessible tools and materials, and will leave the workshop with one or more printed items.

This workshop is for ages 10 and up; children age 12 and under must participate with an adult helper. Space is very limited, and pre-registration is strongly suggested. A $20 fee covers all materials; a sliding fee scale (pay what you can) is available by request. To sign up, or with any questions about the workshop, please email Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. If they choose, participants are encouraged to collect some leaves from their yard, garden or a nearby wood, and bring along a white or light-colored t-shirt or pillowcase to print on.
