Sunday Afternoons at the EAC: Fish and Fisheries in Cobscook Bay with Chris Bartlett

February 9 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

The Sunday Afternoons at the EAC series, a winter offering of informal and interactive programs every Sunday at 3 pm at Eastport Arts Center, continues with Chris Bartlett’s discussion of Fish and Fisheries in Cobscook Bay. Marine fishes are ecologically and economically important in the Passamaquoddy Bay region. Bartlett will discuss changes in fish species and fishing practices in this area, and share information about recent studies on local stocks of halibut, cod, alewife, and smelt. He’ll also thrill attendees with tales of great white shark tracking in our area.

A third-time returning Sunday Series presenter, Bartlett has the pleasure of calling Eastport home since 1989. He is employed by the Maine Sea Grant College Program and has conducted research and education programs to address issues of interest in commercial fisheries and aquaculture for the past 25 years in the Downeast region.

Sunday Afternoons at the EAC programs are held downstairs at the EAC. Hot drinks and refreshments are offered; donations are gratefully accepted. The series will run through April, skipping Easter Sunday. For more information, and to view the rest of the series lineup, please visit https://eastportartscenter.org/constituent-groups/the-concert-series/. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport, and is handicapped-accessible.
