Rescheduled – Sunday Afternoons at EAC presents: Tom Sexton, poet

January 27 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Originally planned for January 20, this event has been rescheduled due to anticipated winter storm conditions. The Sunday Afternoons at the EAC series, a winter offering of informal and interactive programs every Sunday at 3 pm at Eastport Arts Center, continues on January 27 with poet Tom Sexton. Sexton will read from his new book, Li Bai Rides a Celestial Dolphin Home, and share poems he has written about Maine.

Sexton was Alaska’s poet laureate from 1994 until 2000, and was one of the original editors of the Alaska Quarterly Review. His writing has appeared in Poetry, The Hudson Review, The Paris Review and numerous other journals and magazines. Before his retirement, Sexton directed the creative writing program at the University of Alaska for many years.

Sexton and his wife, Sharyn, drive to Eastport from Anchorage to spend the winter every other year, then they drive back to Alaska in the spring. They’ve done this for almost twenty years and say they have no idea why.

Sunday Afternoons at the EAC programs are held downstairs at the EAC. Hot drinks and refreshments are offered; donations are gratefully accepted. The series will run through April, skipping Easter Sunday. For more information, and to view the rest of the series lineup, please visit The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport, and is handicapped-accessible.
