StudioWorks Visiting Artist Lisbeth Firmin Printmaking Workshops
April 1, 2016 - April 3, 2016
Artist Lisbeth Firmin will be coming to StudioWorks as a visiting artist in the printmaking facilities for a week later this March. Firmin is a contemporary American realist painter and printmaker whose imagery explores the relationship between people and their environment. Firmin’s prints have won numerous awards and are included in several important permanent collections including Munson-Williams-Proctor, Utica, NY; Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Provincetown, MA; and the Tides Institute & Museum of Art, Eastport.
During her stay, Firmin will be working on a new series of monotypes and also will teach workshops on deductive monotype printmaking to adults and high school age members of the community. She is offering two opportunities to explore this method.
For those with some printmaking experience, the class will begin on Friday, April 1, from 5-7 pm, for an introduction and initial set up. The class will continue on Saturday, April 2, from 10 to 4 pm for additional work time.
The second class, for those with no previous printmaking experience, will be held on Sunday, April 3, from 10 am to 4 pm. Each class costs $25, with additional supply costs to be based on use. Registration is limited for these workshops. Please call (207) 853-4047 or email Kristin McKinlay to register (kmckinlay @ tidesinstitute . org). StudioWorks and the StudioWorks Artist-in-Residence Program are initiatives of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art. To see examples of Firmin’s work, visit her website, www.lisbethfirmin.com.
