StudioWorks Artist-in-Residence Hannah O’Hare Bennett will be hosting an artist talk and open studio on Wednesday, November 14, at 7 pm at StudioWorks. Bennett, who lives and works in Madison, Wisc., has been at StudioWorks for an 8-week term, designed for artists to focus on outreach and education in the community in addition to their studio practice.
Bennett is a fiber artist and papermaker who makes sculpture and installations. As part of her practice, Bennett often teaches fiber, surface design and paper-making techniques. At StudioWorks, Bennett has offered workshops in embroidery and card weaving for members of the community of all ages, and had many drop-in visitors to her working studio. As part of her outreach, Bennett will have worked with students from Perry Elementary School, Shead High School, and Calais High School by the conclusion of her residency term. These opportunities allow students to meet a working artist, be introduced to new hands-on art-making methods, and see contemporary work-in-progress in the studio.
Bennett’s artist talk will be held at StudioWorks, 48 Water Street, Eastport, and is free and open to the public. The StudioWorks program, now in its sixth year, is an initiative of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art. For more information about Hannah O’Hare Bennett, see her website, www.hannahoharebennett.com.
