Spend a beautiful spring weekend on the Magaguadavic River learning new skills, making new friends and having boat loads of fun. The Beginner River Kayak course is designed for participants with no paddling experience. Some of the skills you’ll learn are river reading, various paddle strokes (draw, forward, reverse, sweep), wet exits, self and assisted rescues to name a few. Successful participants will receive a Paddle Canada Beginner River Kayak Certificate.
The course cost is $400 (CKNB members receive a $50 discount). A $100 non-refundable deposit is required (E-transfer K.matthew.hall@gmail.com) with full payment by May 1, 2023. In the case the course is canceled all deposits/payments will be refunded.
All required kayaking equipment is included if you do not have your own. Please reach out to see if your kayak and gear is suitable for this course.
Accommodations and food are not included.
A detailed list of required gear and course outline will be provided to each participant prior to the course but plan to spend up to 8 hours on the water each day.
