Quoddy Voices Rehearsals Resume

March 2 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Rehearsals will resume for Quoddy Voices’ spring concerts on Monday, March 2, at Eastport Arts Center. This season the chorus will celebrate the bicentennial of Maine statehood with a program that is all about Maine.

The program will will feature a variety of works, including the late 18th century “Handel of Maine”; arrangements of songs originating from the Shaker communities in Maine, including Aaron Copland’s classic setting of “Simple Gifts”; and a medley of songs from Carousel, the musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein, set in coastal Maine. The chorus will also present a fascinating mix of works by Maine composers Anna Dembska, Gregory Biss, Colie Brice and director John Newell.

Rehearsals will be held each Monday evening at 7 pm at the Eastport Arts Center. This season’s concerts will be presented on Friday, June 5 at 7 pm, and Sunday, June 7 at 3 pm.

Quoddy Voices welcomes new singers of all experience levels. No auditions are required, but those wishing to join are asked to contact director John Newell before the first rehearsal at jnewell384@gmail.com.

A constituent group of the Eastport Arts Center, Quoddy Voices is comprised of dedicated singers who hail from all over our region. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and http://www.eastportartscenter.org, and is handicapped-accessible.
