Play by Play – Theater of the Absurd

Play by Play is a free theatre appreciation course offered by Stage East that builds participants’ abilities to analyze and thoughtfully discuss plays through in-class readings and discussion as well as helpful study guides.
This session’s focus is Theatre of the Absurd. Alongside facilitator, Mark Macey, participants will chart this movement’s impact on theatre history and its relevance today. The reading line up is as follows:
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett – Feb. 17th
The Dumbwaiter by Harold Pinter – Feb. 24th
The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco – March 3rd
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard – March 10th
4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane – March 24th
Topdog/Underdog by Suzan Lori-Parks – March 31st
Pass Over by Antoinette Nwandu – April 7th
