Grand Lake Stream Writers: Then and Now is a free event offering readings and stories of place by published authors Wayne Curtis, Sydney Lea, Andrea Olsen, and Art Wheaton at 2 pm on Sunday, September 27. This talk is open to all, at the James Brite Schoolhouse on Water Street in Grand Lake Stream. Each author will share a story about Grand Lake Stream and read a favorite selection from their published works. Excerpts from an historical novel by Anna Cataldo and Ada Chambers, and a sketch by Minnie Atkinson will also be included.

The authors’ writings reflect different relationships with the region. Wheaton was born and schooled in Grand Lake Stream, Lea’s multi-generational family lineage has seasonal connections, Curtis owns a summer camp on West Grand Lake, and Olsen has a home in the village. Together, they bridge the sometimes-complex relationship between “those from away” and “locals” in speaking about a love for place. Bring your stories!
