Celebrate the full moonrise with a hike to the summit of Klondike Mountain Preserve in Lubec. Join us for this spectacular event where we’ll hike to the summit to watch the sunset over Cobscook Bay and the moonrise over Campobello Island and the Lubec Village. We’ll meet in the parking area at the preserve at 6:15pm (sunset is at 6:44pm and moonrise is 7:04pm). The Klondike Mountain Trail leads to two summits where magnificent views are achieved. This loop trail is approximately 3/4 mile round trip.
Be prepared to hike over uneven terrain on the trail and in low light conditions by bringing your own hiking stick and/or flashlight if desired. The trail to the summit has some sections that are steep and rocky as well as sections that are steep, rooted and covered in forest debris.
Klondike Mountain Preserve is located about 1 mile north of Route 189 on North Lubec Road in Lubec. This hike is weather dependent, so please check for updates the day of the event online at www.Facebook.com/DowneastCoastalConservancy or by calling 207-255-4500.
