Explorations with Monotype
May 25 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until June 1, 2021
Join printmaker Nathan Cann for a five-week exploration into monotypes. During the sessions, you will learn the technical aspects of working in a print studio and processes that can be accomplished without the requirement of a press. Classes are limited to six participants for plenty of workspace and instruction time. While all cleaning and printing supplies are included, participants will be asked to bring various textiles and photos for certain sessions. For registration and complete class by class details, please click to visit the official website.
Sessions will include:
Day 1: Watercolor impressions: Create simple monotype impressions using watercolor paints and dish soap.
Day 2: Degas Types: Create oil-based monotypes using an etching press and Plexiglas or copper plate.
Day 3: Field Printing: Create multiple monotone monotypes using simple drawing methods atop thin tissue paper pressed against inked plates.
Day 4: Field Layering: Form multilayered/multicolored monotypes using methods explored during the previous sessions.
Day 5: Transfer Printing: Using acetone, chloroxylenol, and wintergreen oil, participants will learn how to transfer laser printed images onto various surfaces and printed materials.
