Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival

Foodies rejoice as the Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival returns for its 33rd year. Sponsored by the Eastport Area Chamber of Commerce, the two-day event has a host of activities and foods to enjoy, including crab rolls, a fishing derby, a salmon barbecue, and live music!

Saturday, the 4th, we highlight seafood with crab rolls. Craft beers and wine are available along with live music by Washington County musicians will entertain you under the tent. Craft Vendors will be set up along Water Street, which will be closed to allow pedestrian traffic. Joe Clabby, author, will speak about the history of Eastport in the Sutherland Amphitheater at 10 AM. The Peavey Memorial Library is hosting a craft activity for all from Noon-3 PM at the library. The George S. Harris Memorial Fishing Derby is scheduled for 10 AM – Noon; registration at Moose Island Marine. There will also be a self- guided walking garden tour of local home gardens in Eastport. Tides Institute and Museum of Art has several showings during the weekend. A Moonlight Movie will be shown at dusk in the Sutherland Amphitheater. Eastport Arts Center is putting on concert – “Roochie Toochie and the Ragtime Shepherd Kings” Saturday evening.

Sunday, the 5th, is Salmon Sunday: a big salmon barbeque will take place from 11 AM – 3PM. The meal is grilled salmon prepared with Raye’s Mustard Sauce, with roasted rosemary potatoes, green beans, homemade rolls, and a blueberry dessert. The purchase of a salmon dinner ticket includes a free boat ride to see the salmon pens in Cobscook Bay. There will also be crafters set up along Water Street, which will be closed to allow pedestrian traffic. Local Washington County musicians will perform under the tent by the Fisherman Statue. Craft beers and wine are available also. Self-guided walking garden tours allow visitors to visit the beautiful gardens in Eastport. Paint Eastport with a silent art auction is scheduled Sunday. A Chance Auction with local crafts & gifts will be open throughout the day on Sunday with the drawing at 3:30 PM.

The volunteers for the Salmon Festival Dinner on Sunday serve between 700 – 800 guests. Many visitors have said that the SALMON SUNDAY is the highlight! Plus taking a boat ride to the salmon pens, visitors have the chance of seeing porpoise, seals, eagles, and sometimes a whale.
