The 7th Annual Eastport Christmas Homes Tour, sponsored by the Eastport Area Chamber of Commerce will feature nine homes decorated for the holidays. The event will be held Saturday December 3rd from 11am to 5pm. A snow date of Dec 4th has been set. With the aid of a colorful, descriptive brochure the tour is self-directed and includes a map. Homes on the tour include the N.B Nutt House owned by the Gaithers at 18 Middle Street, a Queen Anne Style home at 16 Middle Street owned by the Baileys, the Samuel Wheeler House, one of the early 19th century homes on Washington Street owned by the Ries family, a Craftsman style cottage owned by the Smiths at 24 Third St, a renovated 1880s home at 7 Brighton St owned by Vonda Hardcastle, the original Episcopal Church parsonage designed by Portland’s preeminent architect, a Queen Anne style home at 2 School Street owned by Sarah Talbot, the Sharland Building which is on the Historic Registry and features a gallery and a contemporary apartment on the top floor owned by the Morses, a contemporary home with exceptional views owned by the Harrises on Old Redoubt Road and Eastport’s oldest home; an exceptional Cape Cod style home, the Todd House, owned by innkeeper Ruth Mc Innis. Tickets which are $15 may be purchased at The Commons, the Port O’ Call, Raye’s Mustard Mill in Eastport and The First National Bank in Eastport and Calais, and Sweeties Downeast in Calais.
Refreshments for tour participants will be offered at the Eastport Welcome Center located below the Eastport Port Authority Building from 1-5. A new addition to the tour will be five local vendors selling their wares from 1-5p.m. This is a time to get beautiful handmade quality gifts .The Eastport Elementary children will make ornaments to decorate the tree. Come and see some great Art work from our local students and even meet Santa. Santa will be looking to meet the littles ones from 3-5p.m. Come and tell Santa your wishes and have some cocoa and cookies. Downtown local shops are open offering Christmas Specials, come and spend a day in Eastport!
