Eastport Fourth of July and Old Home Week!

July 1 - July 4

The largest Fourth of July celebration in Maine is upon us! Eastport’s Old Home Week has a host of events for families and people of all ages to enjoy.

Each Day
10:00-4:00 Exhibition – Tides Institute & Museum of Art, Rotating Views: TIMA
at 20, Changing exhibitions and activities, 43 Water Street.
StudioWorks, 48 Water Street: look for activities on an ad hoc basis!
Scavenger Hunt – Find one of our 4th of July rocks and turn it in at
Sweeties Downeast to receive a $10.00 gift card! Sponsored by Sweeties

🔴Friday, July 1st🔴
10:00 – opening of craft fair and vendors.
1:00 – Frisbee contest (Library Lawn). Frisbees provided and yours to keep.
Age categories 5 & under, 6-9, 10-15 and 16 & older. Prizes.
1:30 – Limbo Competition (Library Lawn).
3:00 – Bike Races. Starts half-way down Deep Cove Road and end at the
Fire Station. Trike and ages 2-4 in parking lot.
7:00 -10:00 – Street Dance. Family friendly music to kick off our celebration.
Overlook Park.
7:00 – Pianist Gregory Biss concert at Eastport Arts Center. $15 admission.

🔴Saturday, July 2nd🔴
10:00 – Opening of craft fair and vendors.
10:00 – Kids Cupcake Decoration Contest. Overlook Park. Prizes.
10:00-3:00 – Laser Tag – Library Lawn.
10:00-3:00 – Caricatures – Library Lawn.
11:00 – Watermelon Eating Contest. Overlook Park. Prizes.
1:00 – Little Mr. & Mrs. of July (ages 2-4). Overlook Park.
2:00 – Shead High School Shop Dedication. Dedication to Dale Lincoln and
Richard S. Pottle. At Shead High School.
4:00 – Pet Show. Cutest, Most Patriotic, Best Tricks, Most Unusual, Best of the
Show. Overlook Park. Prizes.
4:00 – Class of 1972 reunion at Jim Underwoods.
4:00-6:00 – Class of 1967 – The Lobster Crate.
5:30 – Hypnotist Frank Santos. Shead High School. $5.00 per person.
6:30-8:30 – Live Music by Against The Grain. Overlook Park.
6:00-8:00 – Class of 1982 Reunion – Horn Run Brewery.
6:00-8:00 – Class of 1992 Reunion – Ole Hookers Bar.

7:30-8:30 – Registration for Charles E. Davis 7.0 Mile Race. Shead High School.
8:00-10:30 – Shead Athletic Booster Public Breakfast – Eastport Elementary School
Sausage gravy and biscuits, French Toast Casserole, Scramble Eggs & Bacon
School. $8.00 Adult & $5.00 child (under 10)
9:00 – 50th Annual Charles E. Davis 7.0 Mile Race begins. Perry Corner to Bank
Square. Walk race begins at Carlow Island.
9:00 – Dale Lincoln Kids’ Fun Run. Ages 13 and under. Boat School to Dead
River Company on Key Street.
9:30 – Tiny Tots Fair and Face Painting. Library Lawn. Children’s games for ages
5 and under.
10:00 – Opening of craft fair and vendors.
12:00 – Miss 4th of July Contest. Overlook Park. Miss 5-8, Junior Miss 9-13, and
Miss 14-18. Contestants for all age categories must register by 12:00 pm.
1:00 – Strawberry Shortcake Sale. Sponsored by Peavey Memorial Library
Board. Library Park.
1:00-3:00 – Open viewing of Civil War mural undergoing restoration.
Tides Institute GAR Hall, 6 Green Street, 2nd floor.
2:00 – Firemans Muster. Water Street.
3:30 – Annual Codfish Relay Race. Water Street. 16 and under or 16 and over.
Must have four members for a team.
5:00 – Shead Alumni Pickup Softball Game behind Elementary School.
6:00-8:00 – Live Music by Stillwaters Band. Classic Rock and Country Rock.
Overlook Park.
6:00-8:00 – Class of 1982 Reunion – The Old Sow Grill.
Dusk – Torchlight Parade. Post Office to Motel East.
Bonfire behind Elementary School following the torchlight parade.

🔴Monday, July 4th🔴
Sunrise – 62nd Annual Flag Raising at Breakwater. Sunrise is approximately
4:45 am.
7:00-11:00 – Annual Blueberry Pancake Breakfast. Eastport Municipal Airport.
8:30 – Calithumpian Parade. Post Office to Bank Square.
9:00 – Land Sports. Kids Races and Prizes. Water Street.
Penny Scramble in memory of Reid F. Craig. To follow directly after land
10:00 – Opening of craft fair and vendors.
10:00 – Water Sports. Fish Pier. Try for the flag at the end of the greasy pole!
10:00 – Eastport Rubber Ducky Race. Fish Pier to Waco Diner Pier.
(Exact time depends on the tide. Ducks available at First National Bank
during the month of June or at Overlook Park 4th of July events).
10:00 – 45th Annual Buddy Allen Car, Truck and Bike Show – Breakwater.
Cars welcome to arrive at 8 am. Judging will begin at 10 am.
11:00 – Annual Blueberry Pie Eating Contest. Overlook Park. Prizes.
Sponsored by Maine Wild Blueberry Association, providers of delicious
11:00 – Crab Roll and Bake Sale at Eastport Senior Citizens Center.
12:00 – Doll Carriage, Wagon, Bike and Trike Parade. Sponsored by Eastport
Youth Associaton. Post Office to Bank Square. Prizes.
2:00 – Grand Independence Day Parade. Floats line up on Staniels Road by
Youth Center. Judging at 1:15 pm. First $500, Second $300, Third $200.
Best decorated 4-wheeler $75.00
6:30 – Barbara’s School of Dance. Overlook Park.
DUSK – Grand Presentation of Eastport’s Fantastic Fireworks Display. Waterfront. Sponsored by First National Bank!
