Caroling to the Cows

December 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Tide Mill Farm, Edmunds, ME United States + Google Map

Join us for our unique event every Christmas Eve. Friends, family, and neighbors gather in our barn and – yes – we sing holiday songs to the cows. Sure, outwardly, the cows don’t seem that impressed, but cows are masters of the understated reaction. We know they count on this festive tradition as much as we do. After the singing ends, we serve hot cider and other yummy treats. Take a break from your gift wrapping, put on an elf hat, and get silly with Tide Mill Farm and our herd of cows. We gather every year on December 24 at 1 p.m. Muck boots and festive hats recommended.

New Year’s Eve in Eastport – The Great Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop

December 31 @ 1:00 pm - 11:59 pm

Join us for the 14th annual New Year’s Eve Great Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop in Bank Square, downtown Eastport. From the third story of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art, a giant red maple leaf will be lowered to commemorate the Canadian new year at midnight, Atlantic time (11 pm ET), while the New Year’s Eve Brass Band will play a rousing “O Canada,” (singing along is encouraged). At midnight Eastern time, an 8-foot sardine will take the plunge, as the brass band plays “Auld Lang Syne.” The Minor CHaracters will play music at StudioWorks from 9 pm until just before midnight. Don’t forget to kiss the sardine for luck in the year ahead!
