September 21 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Eastport Arts Center (EAC), 36 Washington Street
Eastport, ME 04631 United States
+ Google Map

A Sip ’n’ Klimt event will be offered from 6-8 pm, Friday, September 21, at Eastport Arts Center. A riff on popular “sip ’n’ paint” events, organizer Sue Riddle conceived the event, “in the spirit of rebellion against all manner of fascism and artistic repression, but with wine, paint and humor.” Participants will create homages to some of Gustav Klimt’s paintings which were lost when retreating Nazis allegedly torched Schloss Immendorff, where the artworks were being held for safekeeping during World War II. Riddle invites artists of all levels, including total beginners, to join in for the event. “We will spend the evening sipping wine and recreating some of these lost treasures! Feel free to wear your beret, but all Gaulouises must be smoked outside.”
