The goal of impressionism is to capture the feel and emotional impact of the subject portrayed rather than just creating a literal depiction of it. In this course, every level of painter will learn how to free up their hand and mind towards a more exuberant and forgiving style of painting. This is an excellent opportunity for absolute beginners as instruction is easygoing and highly individual. You may choose to work in the studio or outside with oils or acrylics as the recommended media.Find out more »

Music requests are encouraged; children are welcome to attend. Organizer Dagny Silins says, “Dance, because no one’s watching. Dance to relieve stress. Dance because it’s fun! The Eastport Arts Center will resume its Life Drawing Workshop after a long winter's break, beginning on June 6. The group will meet each Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on the first floor of the Arts Center. Participants in the two hour weekly workshop will approach drawing the figure through a series of short exercises that lead to an hour long study, using the drawing medium of their choice. Learning to draw the figure has long been the foundation of learning how to draw. Through history it has been both an academic exercise and a demonstration of mastery. The Arts Center's emphasis is to offer a learning experience for beginners, and for more experienced artists an opportunity to hone their drawing skills. Instruction is offered when requested. Students and artists may sign up for four weeks at a time; however drop-ins are also welcome. For information about fees or other questions, please call or e-mail Joyce Weber at (207) 853-2358 or email@example.com.Find out more »
