Escape the creative confines of a highly structured art class and participate in a unique course where each student is taught in the media and style of their own choosing. This course will introduce the student to a variety of watercolour techniques using flowers, fruit and vegetables for subject matter. Through demonstrations and discussions learn the wonderful versatility of watercolour while exploring the natural world. Michael is reserving summer in Lubec, Maine, to offer en plein air workshops. Both oil and pastel are welcome, and every level of student, from beginner to advanced, will benefit from his classes. Occasionally, he will offer a special week for mentoring intermediate to advanced students. This is noted on the schedule. The Eastport Arts Center’s popular summer concert series will begin on Friday, July 6 with a concert by Gregory Biss, pianist. Biss’ program will include Scherzo #2 in B flat minor by Frederic Chopin, Partita #1 in B flat major by J.S. Bach, plus rags, nocturnes and other short works by Johannes Brams, William Bolcom, Frederic Chopin, Nikolai Kapustin and Gregory Biss.
