Art-making and the outdoors go together in this three day ceramics course. Participants will discover material, form, and meaning by digging clay, foraging natural objects, and using an experimental solar-powered kiln. Ideal for potters, sculptors, and creators of all types, this course aims to expand the connection between the artist and nature. Previous experience with ceramics is not essential, but an adventurous spirit and willingness to experiment is.

LEARN basic principles of directing: analyzing and breaking down your script; scheduling; general organization; working with actors and working with action verbs; working with designers and other members of the team; style and period analysis; making choices, communication, and dealing with issues and different types of people, including people who are challenging. Participants will also get HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE directing short scenes.

Please join us for our 31st annual Membership Meeting and Potluck Picnic on Sunday, July 24th from 2:00pm - 6:00pm at the Roque Bluffs State Park. 2018 has brought about a lot of change for DCC. We are in very exciting times here as we move forward with new staff and plan for the future! Following the opening meeting, we’ll share a potluck picnic and listen to the tunes of the UMM Ukulele Club. Please bring a dish to share and consider bringing someone new along to introduce to DCC. Family friendly and all are welcome!

Bay of Fundy International Marathon Street Dance

The Lubec Area Musicians’ Philanthropic Society’s first concert of the 2018 season will be a street dance held on Sunday, June 24th on Water Street in Lubec at 4 PM. This event follows the Bay of Fundy International Marathon and street fair. There will be two local bands from the Machias area providing music at this event: Lost Cat and The River City Rats and The Milk & Honey Rebellion. LAMPS mission is to promote area musicians and produce admission-free outdoor benefit concerts in Lubec during the warm months of the year. All donations after costs will be disbursed to local food pantries and to home heating fuel assistance funds.
