Soils and Gardens Class

April 28 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Washington County Community College, One College Drive
Calais , ME 04654 United States

The Sunrise County Food Alliance will hold their 6th annual Soils and Gardens Class on Saturday, April 28, in the gymnasium at Washington County Community College in Calais. Mark Fulford, a well-known farm consultant and educator, will again be teaching topics of interest to farmers, those who plant gardens, and anyone interested in sustainable food production. Mark has long studied agriculture at his own farm in Monroe, Maine, and in locations around the world. He teaches from a background of common sense, science, and cultural wisdom. In this class he will address soil improvement, increasing diversity on small farms, and how to deal with current climate conditions, including preparing for drought and increased insect pressure on crops, as well as other topics. Bring your lunch. No charge; donations will be accepted. For information, call 454-3364.

Children’s Theater Workshop

April 28 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Saturday, repeating until April 28, 2018

Eastport Arts Center (EAC), 36 Washington Street
Eastport, ME 04631 United States

The EAC’s Children’s Theater Workhop staged “The Bubbles, the Beatles, and the BFG” in 2015 and “The Curse of the Mona Lisa” in 2017, receiving in return bouquets of roses, ovations and looks of pained confusion from its adult audiences. No matter! We forge ahead into the unknown, because we are aware that theater is always about risk and certainly never for the faint of heart. A new season is currently underway. All those interested in acting, directing, set design, costume, or backstage roles are urged to join us Saturdays from 10-11:30 am (snacks provided!) at the EAC. Tarah Waters and Jon Calame will co-direct the upcoming project, which is yet to be named. Please do come bask in the glory of underground Bohemian theater with us.
