The Art of Storytelling Through Very Fine Folk Art

Take a course this Spring and learn about the magic, fun and stories associated with folk art and how to express them in a work of art. Learn to tell a story in a painting – then tell the story. Beginners to experts – this is a different way of thinking and musing. Course paintings will be acrylic on canvas. Great drawing skills are not necessary but a sense of humour is. This is not your typical folk art. Registration Deadline: March 3, 2018

Eastport Arts Center’s International Dance group will hail the new year with the addition of a second weekly meeting, and starting January 2 will meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm at the center. The group is open to everyone, including beginners, and features traditional dance from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Israel.

PBSO holds rehearsals for the 2018 Spring Concert Series on Thursdays, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at Eastport Arts Center. Concerts will be June 15 in Eatport, June 16 in Machias, and June 17 in Calais. The program includes Memory, Prayers and Celebration -- a new composition by Roberto Pace, Concerto in G for Flute by W. A. Mozart-- with soloist Krista Kwon, and Symphony No. 3 in C Minor (Tragic) by Franz Schubert. New players are welcome.
