The Art of Storytelling Through Very Fine Folk Art

Take a course this Spring and learn about the magic, fun and stories associated with folk art and how to express them in a work of art. Learn to tell a story in a painting – then tell the story. Beginners to experts – this is a different way of thinking and musing. Course paintings will be acrylic on canvas. Great drawing skills are not necessary but a sense of humour is. This is not your typical folk art. Registration Deadline: March 3, 2018

Sunday Afternoons at EAC presents: Sailing to the End of the World: Tales from South America and the Antarctic by Jerry & David Oja

The Sunday Afternoons at the EAC series, a winter offering of informal and interactive programs every Sunday at 3 pm at Eastport Arts Center, will feature Sailing to the End of the World: Tales from South America and the Antarctic by Jerry & David Oja, on April 15. The Ojas recently returned from a trip to South America and the Antarctic, and will share photos and video obtained in these exotic locations. The story starts in Argentina and progresses south past Cape Horn to the Antarctic peninsula, then back northward to the Falkland Islands and Uruguay. The talk will touch on the history, geography and wildlife of the region.
